Sometimes the RAM Disk refuses to install and complains about an older version already installed on your computer. This means that for some reason the automatic uninstaller was not able to remove everything. Here is how you can completely uninstall it:

1. Delete the following registry keys:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SPVDPort
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SPVVEngine
   

   You can delete these keys manually, or via downloading this cleanup file and then unzipping and running it. On Windows 10 and above you should reboot after deleting the keys, otherwise the .sys files in the next step may be locked by the system and you may not be able to delete them.
2. Delete the following files in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers directory:

   spvdbus.sys
   spvve.sys
   

3. Delete the entire installation directory in %PROGRAMFILES%\SoftPerfect RAM Disk.
4. If you wish to remove the application configuration, delete the entire directory %PROGRAMDATA%\SoftPerfect\RAM Disk.
5. Reboot.

Please note that uninstalling the RAM Disk application will also remove all the RAM disks created by it. Therefore, if you used RAM disks for your browser cache, system temporary files, or parts of other software, you should revert those files to the hard disk before uninstalling the RAM Disk, to prevent errors arising from the other software trying to access the RAM disks that no longer exist.
